Rev. John Pinkston

Associational Missionary

Cell: 865-850-6798

Pastor John began serving as our Associational Missionary in October of 2019. He was called as our fulltime missionary in April of 2021. He served Buffalo Grove, one of the 31 churches in our association for, 29 and 1/2 years as pastor. Prior to that he served as pastor of Catherine Nenney Memorial Baptist Church in Whitesburg, Tennessee. His first pastorate was at Del Rio Baptist Church in Del Rio, Tennessee.

Pastor John's Education

Pastor John attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (sbts.edu) in Louisville, Kentucky graduating in May of 1999 with a Master of Divinity from the school of Theology.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in the field of History from Carson Newman University in May of 1982. He is also a 1977 graduate of Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, Tennessee.

Pastor John's Denominational Service

John served as an adjunct ethics professor for Boyce College of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He taught ethics, personal evangelism, political science and spiritual warfare in missions and evangelism. He has also served on the Historical committee of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and the North American Mission board as an inter-faith witness to Jehovah's Witness.

Pastor John's vision

I want to encourage our churches to go out into the highways and hedges of Jefferson County sharing the gospel with our neighbors. This outreach will seek to use various avenues such as Home Run Derbies, Backyard Kid's Clubs, Good News Club's, Youth rallies and Christmas Drive Throughs.
